Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane Early Life

Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane, born on the 15th December 2006, in a Newtown of eNanda, Durban. The city of Durban is well known for its vibrant beaches and nature reserves located in a province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, which is populated by the Zulu tribe.

In the year 2022, she experienced tragic moment in life, whereby her mother (Lindiwe Gugu Khumalo), passed away from the land of the living. Moments such as this, break individuals apart and stray them far away from reality. However, it is completely a different narrative for Naledi. She held her head up and continued her journey.

She did her FET (Further Education and Training) at Khethokuhle Secondary School. Currently, she is a Matriculant and still vibrates positive waves across social media platforms.

Naledi’s love for music started at her early stages. By the age of 4, those who shared close relationships with Naledi could tell, she was destined for the moon.

She attracted popularity at her local vicinity with her vocals. Participating in several leading roles at the church she attended and music group she was associated with. This played an important role in grooming her to be the sensation, she is.

Her sister, Nontokozo Mkhize, who’s a prominent musician herself, provided mentorship and guidance to Naledi about the industry. It is clearly paying dividends judging by the shine Naledi is getting.

Sitting at about 242 037 monthly listeners at Spotify, her great success came about a song collaboration with Fezeka Dlamini and Nomfundo Moh on a song called “Uyangijabulisa”.

Naledi’s most streamed song “Ngiyabonga” surpassed 4.1 million streams, whilst ZOJIKI ZINTO at 2.2 million and counting.

on the 10th August 2024, Basadi in Music Award ceremony was held at Joburg Theater, Braamfontein and Naledi was formally invited as her music earned her nominations. “Uyangijabulisa” was nominated for collaboration of the year whilst “Ngiyabonga” for both SofnFree Pop artist of the year and song of the year, whereby she walked away with an award for artist of the year.

Naledi shared her sincere gratitude for this prestigious recognition and achievement stating that her mother’s spirit is watching over her.

“What came to my mind was my late mum, sister and thanking her. This month is the month my mum died, everything fruitful has been happening this month, the Chris Brown video happened this month, now I won the award. This shows she misses me, and she’s watching for me,” Naledi shared.

Believe me when i say, her voice touches souls. Naledi Aphiwe’s rise to fame came about her singing video went viral and arrived to the likes of Chris Brown, whereby the RnB singer and dance artist posted the video on his Instagram story and complimented her by captioning it “Incredible Voice“.

Only to realize a bit later that Naledi’s incredible voice touched Chris Brown’s soul to a point whereby he decided to featured her on the his double album “11:11” which consist of 11 tracks each. The song Shooter, is the one specifically features a sample of Naledi’s “incredible voice” as Chris Brown has found the voice to be.
