Lily Allen who shares daughters Ethel (13) and Marnie (11), with her ex-husband Sam Cooper has admitted openly on Miss Me? Podcast that she became a mother for wrong reasons.
Lily Allen has admitted that she became a mother because she was searching for unconditional love. Her desperation to feel the love she was yearning for her entire life made her conceive children, hoping she’ll feel loved.
“I think I had children for all the wrong reasons really because I was yearning for unconditional love, which I haven’t felt in my life since I was a child,” she said.
“Also my career was at such a high speed, you know high pressure and I’m a people pleaser and I felt like very overwhelmed by what was happening. I just didn’t get much respite and I felt like the one way to stop people hassling me, it’s not about me it’s about this other person that’s inside me”.
The 39 year old mother has spoken previously about the stormy relationship between her parents. When she was 4 years of age her father Keith Allen left her mother Alison Owen.Since then Lily revealed she was no longer in close contact with her father.
She talked about how becoming a parent herself impacted her career claiming that since she had her own children, her career took a backset.
Her co-host Miquita Oliver on Miss Me? Podcast asked her if becoming a mother helped on slowing things down, she then responded, “They did leave me alone, but I don’t think I really understood what I’ve got myself into”.
“Some people choose their career over their children and that’s their prerogative, but my parents were quite absent when I was a kid. I feel like it left some nasty scars that I’m not willing to repeat on mine.,” she said.
